SKELMORLIE'S Christmas lights have been switched on after a special event which provided plenty of fun for all the family.
The festivities began at the village's community centre at 6pm with mulled wine, mince pies and other drinks and nibbles, as well as the chance to meet Santa, before the switch was thrown to light up the village's Christmas tree.
Maureen Kelly's 'Mr 'n' Mrs Claus' raised £200 for the village's community garden.
Bill Spiers from the Skelmorlie Community Association, which organised the event, said: "The committee hope everyone enjoyed the switch-on - especially the children who took the opportunity to dress our tree with the help of Santa.
"There was a great turnout. Thanks to everyone who participated.
"A huge thanks go to Maureen and to everyone who bought raffle tickets for their generosity and support which is overwhelming and very much appreciated."
The lucky winning raffle ticket was number 1-5, and the prize for the winner is available to be collected at the Village Store.
