Converting a Cockney geezer into a prince is not an easy thing to do, but Largs Amateur Operatic Society managed it with royal aplomb as they put in a masterful and stylish performance of the Broadway classic "Me and My Girl" which will be long remembered.
One audience member suggested that this could have been a West End production such was its calibre - and this was just one of the many praiseworthy comments heard as the audience left Barrfields with a spring in its stride.
Favourite tub-thumping tunes such as "Lambeth Walk" reverberated around the old theatre to rapturous applause, as the Largs Amateur Operatic Society was at the peak of their powers.
