Allam Peter Peter Allam 26 May 1935 - 30 July 2024 passed away peacefully. Peter had a full life of theater, art, music, football, film and walking in nature. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, you could fully engage with his passion because he loved to be in conversation. In his youth he was an autograph collector and that was a wonderful way of making contact with performance artists. Peter worked at the Australian High Commission in London as the Senior Finance and Shipping Officer until he retired at 55. In the 90s Peter was a local representative for the London Wildlife Trust's Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Group. Who was committed to bringing back the wildlife to London's Royal Parks and cemeteries. His football team was Arsenal football club where was a season ticket holder. He loved football as much as opera, films and art. In 2001 he moved to Largs and fell in love with his life there. He started the Largs Film Society in January 2006. His vision was to have a film society similar to the Glasgow Film Theatre. The first screening was "The House of the Flying Daggers" by Zhang Yimou. The society continues to bring an eclectic selection of films to Largs. In 2006 he joined the Largs Amateur Operatic Society as their rehearsal accompanist. Peter has played beautifully since he was a boy. His infectious enthusiasm led him to undertake background research into each operetta. This enthusiasm endeared Peter to the club members. His friendship and support for his niece Nicola Atkinson, artist, was a great joy for both. Holmwood flats where he stayed were full of amazing people and deep friendships were formed including Les, Jean and Jack. He leaves with great sadness his sister Jill Vedebrand, Claire Atkinson, Roger Downing, Rosemary Ford, Keith Ward, family and friends. A musical gathering will be held soon in Peter's memory.
