Millport residents could be forgiven for thinking that they are staring at a new structure across the water ... the Hunterston Hilton!
Mr Ian Frame, who represents the isle of Cumbrae on the Hunterston site stakeholders group, has criticised the all weather cladding for Hunterston 'A'. Its shining white exterior has caused uproar on the island, Mr Frame has said.
A resident from Brodick who attended the meeting also said it was quite apparent from Arran too.
Speaking at the recent meeting in front of nuclear bosses at Brisbane House Hotel, Mr Frame said: "I represent Cumbrae and our view is now this new Hunterston Hilton. It is huge and it is so noticeable. It has been brought up before and I suggested that it should blend in with the surroundings but we now have a background that is clearer than Canvas white. I think you really need to go to Millport to see for yourselves what it actually looks like. It is very obvious and so stark. It is the first think you see when you look at this temporary weather barrier - it is pebble white." Hunterston 'A' representatives stated that they had been to Millport to see the view but explained that to allow procedures to be carried out safely inside, the white exterior was the best colour which could be used.
