Largs Live launched the town’s summer season in style - welcoming visitors from all over Scotland as well as international travellers with its eclectic mix of high energy and melodic music.
‘The town’s jumping’ and ‘what a great vibe’ were just two of the comments from the crowds who enjoyed every minute of this annual music extravaganza that stages over 100 gigs by 75 bands at 25 venues throughout the town. a jubilant stephen McDonald, who is the main organiser of the event said: “I am delighted that so many of the pubs, restaurants and cafés joined in with this important event for the town. Largs Live also brings business to the towns B&B, guest house and hotel sectors.” He continued: “The shops see a big increase in sales during the weekend too, and Morrisons supermarket were rostering staff around the event dates to cover for the increase in visitor numbers to the town.” Largs Live children’s entertainment was another great hit, with performances by Largs’ very own ‘The McDougalls’ and the ever popular Face Painting Fairies.
Willie Wood, The Chair of Explore Largs said: “Explore Largs is proud of the event and pleased that it can highlight Largs as a place to go, see and stay, especially at this important time of year for our local economy.” He added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank every venue and artiste that took part and a special thanks to everyone who attended Largs Live 2015.” Plans are already being put into place for next year’s event, and stephen, who guested on STV Glasgow last week to promote the Largs Live and Largs as a place to visit, was even in discussion with a new Scottish band ‘Akela’ who were appearing on the same show.
The only disappointment of the whole event was the non-appearance of Sambayabamba, without explanation to the organisers
