Bowling has always been a popular pastime on the Isle of Cumbrae.

It certainly has a long tradition on the island, dating back to 1871, with the impressive clubhouse well over 100 years old.

Affiliated to Bowls Scotland, the greens are kept in excellent condition throughout the season and play host to a wide number of visiting clubs for friendly and competitive tournaments.

Boasting three superb greens with breathtaking panoramic views of the Firth of Clyde, there is also a fully licensed clubhouse that holds many social events throughout the year.

Facilities are available for hire to non-members and visitors are made very welcome.

The Millport Bowling Club annual awards took place during a recent sunny weekend on the island.

Archie Hamilton (Club President) is pictured with Lena Gallagher (Club Vice President), who is holding the trophy for the Ladies vs Gents committee game, which the ladies won this year. Also pictured is Margaret Snedden (Ladies Champion) and Douglas Junner (Gents Champion).

Scott Watson carried out an entertaining presentation at the clubhouse, and Karen Brodie took the photographs of the winners.
