Famous tennis coach Judy Murray officially opened the new West Kilbride tennis courts last Wednesday amid a blizzard outside!
The opening speeches had to be held within the sports pavilion, as Judy, and a large crowd of villagers, had to dash under cover to avoid the unseasonable weather!
However, the sunshine soon returned, and everyone returned courtside as Judy, and Jamie Moffatt, of the Moffat Charitable Trust, of West Kilbride, carried out the official opening ceremony, where a plaque was unveiled.
The courts are named the 'Margie Moffat tennis courts' in memory of Jamie's mother, with The Moffat Charitable Trust one of the principal funders behind the 'ace' project. Hundreds of people turned up to see the official launch.
Judy, the mother of tennis stars Andy and Jamie, brought her 'Tennis on the Road' programme to West Kilbride which aims to inspire coaches, children and parents to get involved in and stay in tennis.
