Scrubbing up well, Pint Size Productions returned to the Largs stage last weekend for the much anticipated sequel about cleaning ladies Bev and Senga - and much laughter ensued, writes Calum Corral.
The audience was packed to the rafters with the female fraternity, which made your male reviewer rather twitchy in case he was called up on to the stage for the 'It's Raining Men' song as there were precious few of us about!
However, there is no doubting that the fast paced humour intermixed with famous pop songs tweaked to include plenty of local references, is comedy dynamite.
A cross between 'The Steamie' and 'Still Game', there is no doubting that the comic creations - the diminutive Laura Edison, and her taller sidekick Natalie Sweeney - are on the crest of a wave right now, and even produced their own merchandise for fans at the end of the show at Lounge bar and restaurant. There was also a charity raffle for Bridie's Babies charity which raised £450.
As per usual, the songs were brilliantly crafted with The Proclaimers '500 Miles' being replaced with '500 Drinks', while Meghan Trainor's 'It's all about the Base' was substituted with Buckie, no Smirnoff!
Topical and up to the minute as ever, it was even suggested that the filmmakers behind Trainspotting 2 could have saved themselves a fortune, and just filmed in Nelson St!
Seagulls, cocktails, the Wee Paper, Largs Community Council, Vikings, Scotrail, and even Donald Trump all received a glowing mention or two. In truth, nobody is safe from their acerbic and outrageous humour.
Bev and Senga were well and truly back, and in this kind of irresistable form, it looks like they will take some stopping, with a summer show already in the pipeline. But first, the ladies are heading overseas to Millport on 17 December.
