Pupils at Largs Academy can now use facial recognition to pay for their lunches.
Nine schools across North Ayrshire are implementing the system to speed up payments on campuses.
The new technology will be used to buy contactless school meals and all in-school catering purchases, and will replace the Parent Pay app.
North Ayrshire Council has given parents the option of removing their children from the system and using a pin code instead.
However, thhe council says that 97 per cent of parents across the authority have bought into the new system.
