MSP Jamie Greene has warned jobseekers in Largs and Millport not to fall victim to job scams and employment fraud.
Information provided through fraudulent job adverts can be used in a number of ways by criminals, including identity theft.
The Disclosure and Barring Service is running a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of jobs scams which have increased by 88% this year.
The campaign is urging the public to remain vigilant and familiarise themselves with the signs of a potential job scam or fraudulent job advert.
Jamie believes the campaign could help prevent hundreds of North Ayrshire residents from being scammed and said if a job looks too good to be true then it probably is.
He said: “Searching for a job can be a challenging time and the last thing job-seekers need is to get taken advantage of by scammers.
“That’s why I’m highlighting this campaign which makes clear the signs to look out for such as an unrealistic salary, receiving a job offer without an interview and being asked for money.
“Don’t be fooled and report suspicious adverts to JobsAware – remember, if a job advert looks too good to be true then it probably is.”
