The long wait is over.

Top Gun: Maverick has been released at local cinemas, and the Saltcoats Premier Cinema has three showings per day over the coming week to meet demand.

The sequel to the 1986 blockbuster sees Tom Cruise reprising the role as one of the Navy's top aviators Pete Mitchell, after more than thirty years of service, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

The showings take place daily at 1pm, 4pm and 6.45pm.
