VOICES from beyond the grave and ghostly apparitions had staff at Kelburn Country Centre in a panic this week back in 2010.
Staff said that hoovers and lights had started to switch themselves on and off, while upstairs rooms in the castle mysteriously became locked and were ransacked.
The Ghosthunters Scotland group were called in to investigate and a ghostly figure was seen in the old hen house next to the castle while mediums said they had detected the presence of other spirits from the past.
In other news, a political storm in a teacup was brewing after the Fairlie Brownies group leader accused Conservative Westminster candidate Philip Lardner of attempting to politicise a local fundraising event in the village and a masonic initiation ceremony was one of the major events happening to mark the centenary of the Masonic Lodge St John’s in Largs
The Frazer Street premises was celebrating its 100-year milestone through number of different events.
The Girl Guides hosted a coffee morning as part of their own centenary celebrations at the Clark Memorial Church Hall and the start of a revolutionary yoga programme by Wee Cumbrae owners Sam and Sunita Poddar was rolled out to schools in Glasgow.
Sunita Poddar invited media to Little Cumbrae where he was creating a yoga retreat he said could reverse poor health trends.
Largs Amateur Operatic Society's big show was Fiddler on the Roof and in sport, former Aberdeen and St Mirren player Ricky Gillies was hoping to pass on some of his skills at a training camp on Millport during the Easter holidays.
Finally captain marvel Ross McMillan scored the only goal of the game as Largs Thistle triumphed 1-0 over Irvine Meadow in the quarter finals of the Scottish Junior Cup.
