Cumbrae Primary pupils took to the ice for a lesson of a different kind as they were given an opportunity to try curling.
Millport has a proud tradition of curling going back many years, so it was particularly apt that the island's schoolchildren were able to get a handle on the popular Winter Olympic sport.
A school spokesperson said: "Primary 6/7 had a fantastic experience learning how to curl at Greenacres in Howwood.
"The instructors were wonderful and the children were also treated to a tasty lunch.
"Thanks to parent Alex Morton for organising and applying for funding and Greenacres for being such patient hosts - it was a lot harder than it looked!"
