The latest Looking Back takes News readers to the year 2000, the start of the millennium - and an exciting time in Largs.
The BB were understandably all smiles after handing over cheques to a number of local groups - St Vincent de Paul, RNLI, CHAS and Children First.
Millport Golf Club’s Podgers Winter Eclectic competition was concluded, with a lunch in the clubhouse. It was followed by a prizegiving presided over by Chief Podger Dugald M.McIntyre with the prizes being presented by the captain of the club, Mr Ronnie Maxwell.
There was a good response by pupils of Skelmorlie Primary to enter the Burns poetry competition organised by Largs Cronies Burns Club. All participants were awarded a certificate and winners received medals. Pictured with their awards are those who took part. The medal winners were Kira McLean, Dean McKinnon, Jack Houston, Roisin O’Neill, Kathryn Leicester, Jarred Campbell, Fiona Watson and Cheryl McLintock.

And Largs Academy S1 and 2 and local Primary 7 pupils enjoyed an informative, fun lecture entitled “Great Expectations - Biology of the Future” as part of their Science 2000 event, presented by “Bobbi” - Jane Gill - and Fance E Pance - Lily O’ Donavan. Also pictured were S1 pupil Ashley Weir and teacher Ms Williams.
