TRAIN travellers between Ayrshire and Glasgow are facing major rush hour disruption this evening (Tuesday).
ScotRail is reporting that overhead electric wires have been damaged between Paisley Gilmour Street and Kilwinning, closing all lines in the area and forcing the cancellation of all trains between Glasgow and Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan.
The disruption began when the 3.45pm train from Glasgow to Largs broke down outside Dalry.
Services could be disrupted until 8pm, ScotRail says.

People trying to get home at Glasgow Central have been told that there is currently disruption on the lines - and trains may be cancelled or delayed.
ScotRail have said that engineers are 'on their way to investigate'.
The ScotRail incident page on JourneyCheck.com suggested the problem lay with damage to the overhead wires between Paisley and Lochwinnoch, though Network Rail has indicated the issue is at Brownhill, between Dalry and Glengarnock.

Customers contacting ScotRail on Twitter have been told that they are dealing with a fault with the overhead lines in that area and it's going to cause some delays and cancellations. Keep an eye on the ScotRail Twitter feed for updates.
The ScotRail information page on JourneyCheck.com says the disruption is expected to continue until 8pm.
Rail replacement transport had not been arranged as this article was published at 5.15pm.
Largs passengers are being advised to use McGill's buses on routes 901 and 906,
