ScotRail has issued importance advice to travellers leaving Largs to consider using less busy trains on the timetable.

The rail company recently posted on its social media platforms advising users to consider the best time of train to get to avoid packed out trains.

A spokesperson said: "Just a heads up that the return 6.16pm train service to Glasgow (It leaves 6.07pm on Saturday) is usually very busy.

"You may want to consider leaving a little earlier and catching our 4.07pm departure, or why not extend your stay in this beautiful part of the country and catch the 7.07pm.

"Both these alternate trains have six carriages."
