"Give us a sign" is the message from Largs Community Council, in a bid to help tourists and visitors enjoy some of the fantastic attractions in the town.
The organisation wants to see more information boards around the town to inform people about the places they can visit - and it also wants to introduce a new 'Welcome to Largs' sign at its own community garden.
The community garden is based at the foot of Gogoside Road at the A78 junction and has been used this year for the King's Coronation and Armed Forces Day. See here.
During a recent discussion at Largs Community Council, Wendy Low Thomson suggested the need for a new community information board sign at Largs Railway Station or in Tron Place.
She said: "We are desperately needing a new information board - probably just outside the station - or in Tron Place where the other one was, or anywhere in the Main Street really, but it has to be central."
Community council chairman Jim Phillips thought it was a good idea to pursue.
Jamie Black suggested that he'd like to see an appropriate 'Welcome to Largs' sign at the community garden. It was agreed to pursue a plaque for the community garden to install a welcome sign and get it costed - and the possibility was mooted about adding a Viking helmet to the sign.
Wendy added that information signs for the Largs town centre should still be pursued - and pointed out the Douglas Park project lined up high quality information signs from Largs Printing Compay - and suggested something similar would look good in the Main Street.
She said: "After all, we have so many positive things we want to promote in the area, including Largs Musuem, Douglas Park, Vikingar etc, so we really should have something in the town centre close to the railway station to highlight all the nice places to visit."
Mr Philips agreed - and suggested that it could highlight walking trails and historical and cultural aspects including the relics of Sir Thomas Brisbane's observatory in Brisbane Glen.
We recently reported that a previous information sign next to the Largs seafront car park which contained inaccuracies and out of date information was removed by the council after complaints were made - but it has yet to be replaced.
