Largs Post Office was closed this morning after a decision was taken due to staff absentees.

A posting appeared on their social media page yesterday evening outlining the reasons behind the closure, which also affects the adjoning cafe. 

However it is hoped that it will partially reopen tomorrow and fully re-open by Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Largs Post Office said: "We are really, really sorry about this but we have got a serious staffing issue due to holidays and sickness which means we will be unable to open either the post office or cafe on Monday.

"We should be open on Tuesday albeit with skeleton staff.

"Thankfully we should be back to normal on Wednesday.

"We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused."
