THE PS Waverley is set for an evening sunset cruise round Bute and through the Kyles, leaving from Largs and Millport, in a unique opportunity.
The Paddle Steamer Preservation Society is offering the chance to enjoy a sunset cruise aboard the famous paddle steamer on July 26 as she steams round the Isle of Bute and through the Kyles of Bute.
Tickets are now on sale for the “one-off” cruise with Waverley set to cast off from Largs at 7.25pm and Keppel Pier at 7.45pm.
Allan Smith, Vice Chairman for the Scottish Branch of the Society, said: “We had an incredible turnout for last year's evening cruise steaming round Bute, with over 600 people enjoying the unusual evening sail.
"It was wonderful to see so many joining the vessel at Largs and Keppel to help us raise vital funds for Waverley.
"Over £10,000 was raised from last year’s evening cruise allowing us to help fund a new radar for Waverley which was fitted just in time for the 2023 sailing season.
"I look forward to welcoming locals and supporters aboard once again this year.”
Waverley’s 2023 season has already seen over 60,000 passenger journeys recorded.
Her visit to the Bristol Channel last month saw all but two sailings fully booked.
Allan added: “It is easy to take Waverley for granted but maintaining an operational steamship in seagoing condition requires huge upkeep and I am proud that the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society is once again able to offer support, and at the same time give loyal supporters and our local communities the chance to enjoy the stunning Clyde coast.”
Tickets for the evening cruise on Wednesday 26th July can be purchased online at waverleyexcursions.co.uk or by calling 0141 243 2224.
Full catering facilities will be open throughout the cruise, there will also be live music in the main lounge onboard the steamer. Tickets are priced at £33 (adults) and just £10 for children (5-16). Tickets can also be purchased on board Waverley on the evening subject to availability.
