ONE of Scotland's best-known stand-up comedians is preparing to return to the Largs stage next month.
Fred MacAulay will bring his new show to the Barrfields Theatre on August 5 as part of a tour of 18 Scottish venues - ahead of a run of shows at the Edinburgh Frings.
Fred says: "Stand-up comedy had been hit pretty hard by the pandemic and gigs were cancelled as soon as the country went into lockdown. The return of audiences to theatres and stand-up venues was a delight to see.
“Putting things in perspective, there were many things far, far worse than your job disappearing for a couple of years - but it was time to get back into theatres and halls for a bit of a laugh.
“I’ve been very fortunate in my career and have done a lot of radio and television shows over the years, but what I absolutely love more than anything is standing on stage and making a room full of people hoot with laughter - especially in Scotland."
The show promises tales of lockdown weddings, complying with the Covid regulations, returning to work, trying to get a refund on a train ticket, nuisance phone calls and becoming a grandparent.
