Roads policing officers in Ayrshire carrying out speed checks on Friday stopped a driver who was travelling at 116mph.
The reckless motorists was stopped on the A78, and the 42 year old, who also had no insurance, will now be reported for dangerous driving.
A police spokesperson said: "A 42 year old male will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for dangerous driving and driving without insurance when he was found to be driving at 116mph on A78 this evening.
"Several other drivers were reported for other offences and warned regarding their speed."
