Cumbrae Coastguard Rescue Team were called out at around 6pm yesterday to a report of a small wooden vessel which had come ashore.
The incident happened near to Crocodile Rock in Millport on August 24.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "Upon arrival the boat had already been pulled out of the water by passing members of the public to help prevent damage and it was confirmed that the boat was actually the tender to a larger vessel on the visitor moorings in Newton Bay which had broken free.
"Contact was made with the owner and the tender was secured above the high water mark for the night before recovery by the owner earlier this morning.
"Don't forget that you can help identify your tender or other personal watercraft by ordering free stickers from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency here."
