There are various flooding problems on the A78 between Wemyss Bay and Greenock this morning.
BBC Radio Scotland are reporting at 7am that the A78 Wemyss Bay (Ardgowan Road) to Inverkip road is closed both ways due to flooding - with the area near the former Inverkip Power Station badly affected.
The IBM road is also being described as 'unpassable' to motorists with cars having to turn back.
Inverclyde Council have issued the following: "Flooding is affecting many areas, particularly trunk roads, this morning due to the heavy, persistent rain overnight and there are currently issues on the A78.
"Check with Amey South West Trunk Roads and Traffic Scotland for the latest updates before travelling.
"Flooding is also affecting train services with high levels of water in the Branchton area meaning the Glasgow Central-Wemyss Bay service will start and terminate at Port Glasgow."
