A company set to bring a subsea cable manufacturing operation to Hunterston is to host its latest public consultation event on Thursday, October 12.
XLCC's HVDC subsea cable manufacturing operation will be situated in the brownfield site at Hunteston and will create a new UK industry to support global decarbonisation targets.
Once fully operational, the facility will support 900 jobs in the area, with thousands more in the wider supply chain.
XLCC’s first order is for four 3,800km long cables to connect solar and wind renewable power generation in the Sahara to the UK for the Xlinks Morocco-UK power project.
A spokesperson said: "After being awarded full planning permission back in May we have been working hard behind the scenes by reinforcing XLCC's corporate structure.
"Heading up XLCC is Ian Douglas, CEO. Ian comes to us from Global Marine, a leading installer of subsea cable; Paul Dickson, development director, who is responsible for factory build; Jamie MacGregor, cable joint supervisor, who will be taking on our first cohort of apprentices under his wing this week."
The public consultation takes place on October 12 at West Kilbride Village Hall from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
