The Boys’ Brigade is celebrating its 140th anniversary - and Largs is among the towns and cities across the country to have welcomed boys through the ranks of the organisation down the years.
From one group founded in Glasgow in 1883, the BB has since spread across the country and around the world, positively impacting the lives of millions of people and helping children and young people to live ‘Life to the Full’.
As the BB celebrates its 140-year history with a number of events and activities for children and young people, we have delved into the News archives for some classic photos from yesteryear.
This rare picture above shows the Largs BB on a march along Largs seafront in 1933.
Around 45 years later, the Boys' Brigade had a few familiar faces in their football side at Bowen Craig.
It was prizegiving time in 1979, with a young Hugh Douglas collecting a trophy.
In 2018, the Boys' Brigade was hoping to get plenty of mileage out of its new mini bus after boys raised a remarkable £30,000 to get it on the road, with leader Bridie Lamont waving them off!
And well kent Largs community volunteer Janet Muir was heavily involved in fundraising for a new BB bus in the 1990s too.
Here's a picture from one of the BB summer camps from 2012.
Largs BB also has a regular Christmas post service and here is a picture from 2017's festive event.
Proving to be good sports, former Inverclyde Sports chief John Kent coached the boys competing for big honours in UK badminton championships.
And Millport BB continues to have a strong presence on the island too.
