A long-serving councillor who has served the North Coast, including Largs and Millport over recent years, has announced he is going to stand for the Conservatives in the forthcoming general election.
Todd Ferguson, who lives in Millport, but originally hails from West Kilbride, announced his candidature on October 26.
He said: "I'm delighted to have been selected by local North Ayrshire and Arran Conservatives members to contest the North Ayrshire and Arran Westminster constituency at the next General Election.
"Should I win the seat for the Scottish Conservatives, I will step down after almost eight years as a local councillor.
"Until then, I will continue to serve the people of the North Coast as one of their councillors as I always have and anyone can contact me via my council email and phone number as usual."
Todd Ferguson was former deputy leader of the North Ayrshire Conservatives at North Ayrshire Council, and has also lived and worked in New Zealand.
