THE operators of the Waverley have sent a special message of congratulations to two of the paddle steamer's most famous supporters.
Actors Timothy West and Prunella Scales have been huge fans of the historic ship since it entered preservation in the 1970s - and are regular visitors on board each year.
The couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday - and Waverley Excursions Ltd took to social media to pass on their own congratulations to the happy couple.
They said: "Happy Diamond Wedding Anniversary to Timothy West and Prunella Scales!
"We definitely approve of the cake.
"Tim and Pru have been Waverley supporters throughout Waverley’s preservation career and are patrons for the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.
"We were delighted to see them aboard Waverley again during the 2023 season."
The couple recently enjoyed one of the ship's autumn cruises on England's south coast, from Southampton to Poole.
They were pictured onboard the Waverley as it left Largs in 2021.
Entertainers Prunella Scales CBE and Timothy West CBE are one of British acting's most recognisable and successful couples - and were spotted enjoying a trip through Largs - and headed onwards on a round trip of Ailsa Craig.
Prunella, 91, who starred as Sybil in the classic BBC comedy Fawlty Towers, was diagnosed with dementia, and Timothy recently spoke about the effect it has had on their lives.
Both star in the popular Channel Four show, Great Canal Journeys.
