The owner of a new kilt hire and sales shop in Largs has shared her delight at being welcomed by the community.
Lorraine McAllister and her partner Craig have opened the door to their new business Campbells Kilts on 5 Brisbane Road on Monday (November 13) and are ready to welcome everyone for their tartan and kilt needs.
She told the News: "I used to work in a kilt shop in Greenock for 10 years. The owner decided he was selling up, so it was then that I decided to open my own shop.
"I was looking for somewhere to open the business and found this space in Largs.
"I also noticed that there wasn't really anything like this in the town so I knew it was an ideal place to set up a business.
"As we have been decorating the building and getting deliveries in, we have had people stop by us to say hello which has been lovely.
"We are hoping that it will benefit the local high school and community groups as we will have the kilt hires too.
"Working in a kilt shop can be a lot of fun because you have customers from all walks of life from proms, Scout parties, pipe bands and of course weddings.
"We knew wanted to bring our shop to Largs because it is such a special experience getting measured and picking out your own tartan."
The shop will not only have kilts, morning suits and tuxedos for hire and ex-hire, it will offer bespoke kilts for sale too.
And the couple, who live in Greenock, only have one message they want to send out to the local community.
The 40-year-old added: "We have had a lot of good feedback from people passing on the street even though we weren't open yet which has been amazing.
"We just want local people to feel confident and proud when wearing our kilts.
"Please don't be afraid to come and say 'hi'. We are very excited to be here and ready to be welcomed by the town."
This week Campbell's Kilts will have opening offers on their kilts and people are invited to have some nibbles and prosecco/whiskey to celebrate the opening.
