Roads company Amey have provided a further update regarding the ongoing flooding issue on the A78 at the entrance to Largs Yacht Haven.
Flooding is persisting on a stretch of the A78 outside Largs as well as at a nearby car park - more than three weeks after roads bosses promised "emergency repairs" to fix the problem.
Recent flooding has forced the closure of the car park next to Largs marina to the public as the facility is submerged in places.
With concerns over the onset of colder temperatures and the impact flooding could have, the roads company is looking to find the source of the problem.
And local residents who were in touch with Amey today received a fresh update.
Amey said: "We have had a partial collapse of the stone culvert which we have repaired but we are still getting further issues.
"From the investigation yesterday we can see a blockage in the culvert. We tried to remove the obstruction yesterday but jetting equipment, drainage rods with cutters and hooks did not work.
"We have a specialist contractor coming in today to hopefully remove the item without having to dig the whole road up which would involve a lot of hand digging due to the gas main.
"Hopefully this will resolve the issue and the traffic lights can be removed before the weekend."
As we reported yesterday, Councillor Ian Murdoch told the News that Amey bosses have agreed a number of planned actions to tackle the problem.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said: “We were made aware of the flooding issue and arranged for the footpath and car park to be closed to public access until the flooding issue was resolved by Amey.”
