MEMBERS of a North Ayrshire pipe band have voted to dissolve the group - at least in its present form.
The move comes after a vote at the annual general meeting of the Isle of Cumbrae RBLS (Royal British Legion Scotland) Pipe Band.
It follows an appeal by the band, issued earlier this year, for more pipers and drummers - of all ages and experience levels - to join its ranks.
The band practices in Saltcoats every Thursday at 7.30pm.
In a social media post a band spokesperson said: "At our recent annual general meeting it was decided by a vote of 14 to 10 to dissolve the Isle of Cumbrae RBLS Pipe Band in its present form.
"The majority wished for the band to take on a more casual format, still meeting and practising pipes and drums, but without a band structure.
"The minority group are going to continue to meet as a band, have a weekly band practice and retain a connection with Isle of Cumbrae Legion and take on engagements as numbers allow."
