Excitement is building for the return of the Largs Panto next week as a classic fairytale gets given a contemporary Scottish twist.
Aladdie, the latest festive production by the Largs Players, is coming to Barrfields Theatre from December 7-9.
Writer and producer Laura Edison, pictured, said: "It is a classic fairytale which we wanted to give a very Scottish twist to.
"We have moved everything to Scotland, but there is still a lamp and a genie and all the traditional much loved elements.
"Although we are a coastal theatre, we always aim to push the boundaries on special effects and give the audience something they would expect which is as big as you would expect in the city and much cheaper.
"It still has all the usual toe tapping songs and we have given the lyrics of some of Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor's songs a local twist, as well as Olly Murs being given the full Largs Players treatment!
"We will also have a nod to the latest trends including references to Netflix's Wednesday, as well as TikTok dances and Prime juice.
"We have a mix of familiar faces and also some newcomers, as well as rising stars who came through Largs Youth Theatre.
"Aladdie and Princess Jasmine, played by Thomas Sewell and Leah Houston, are both in their teens and we have stalwarts such as Stefanie Caldwell as Abanazar and Danny Lindsay as Wishee Washee.
"And we have a 'name dame' this year who is female, going with the recent trend, in Maggie McMillan.
"I have a good relationship with Alan McHugh, who is the king of Scottish panto - he is a prolific writer and performer and he has provided some scripts for me that I have adapted with my own characters and jokes.
"He is a great friend and has been a mentor of mine for ten years."
Look out too for Lauren Beckwith, who plays Jeanie the Genie, and is a fantastic professional singer with powerhouse vocals and comic abilities whose career has taken her across the UK.
Laura Newton plays SoShy, the funny best friend of Princess Jasmine, while Cormac Cameron-Finn and Kate McCalman play Abanazar's two hapless henchmen, Tuesday and Wednesday.
There’s lots of monkeying around for Aladdie's two besties Bibi and BooBoo - played by 11 year old Carla and five year old Bella.
Largs Players stalwart Willie Mullin will be playing it for laughs as the 'Spirit of Prime'.
Laura added: "What an absolutely spectacular showing of local talent - we can't wait to launch this year's panto spectacular."
Other cast members to look out for include Kate Shelley, Eva Cormack, Erin Connick, Anna Withers, Jacquelyn Teaz, Theo Barker, Autumn Tweedie, Gordon Blair, Alison Goldie, Dot Gosling, Jack MacGillivray, Lynne Cameron Finn, Julie Teaz, Christine Spitoni, Lynne McCabe, and Fiona Carruthers.
