THE organisers of the Largs Viking Festival have thanked one of the event's longest-serving volunteers after he stood down from the committee.
Tom McMillan helped organise the opening-day parade which is one of the event's most popular features - and was a director of the festival for more than a decade.
During Tom's involvement the event has grown into one of Scotland's best loved cultural festivals, even being mentioned in The Guardian's Top 20 great traditional festivals of Europe.
A festival spokesperson said: "The Largs Viking festival committee would like to thank Tom for his many years of commitment in helping organise the festival, particularly with the parades.
"After 11 years as a director and many before that as a helper, we wish him all the best for the future, and we hope he won't be a stranger.
"As Tom steps down, we would like to take this opportunity to wish our new directors the best of luck in their new roles."
