A YOUNG person from Fairlie received a prestigious award at the village Christmas tree lighting event.
David Sutherland was announced as the Margaret Currie BEM award winner for the Fairlie Young Citizen of the Year on Monday (December 4).
It is an event ceremony that has been running for around three decades and has seen various community winners.
He was presented the award by Fairlie Primary head teacher Caroline McGinn.
This year’s festive event took place at Fairlie Village Hall when the lights on the Christmas tree were switched on.
Youngsters from Fairlie Primary got the crowd ready for Christmas by providing musical entertainment.
The primary pupils even put on their favourite festive jumpers to celebrate the occasion.
A spokesperson from Fairlie Community Association, which organised the event, said: "Many thanks to everyone who came along to the Tree Lighting at the village hall.
"Congratulations to David Sutherland, who received the Margaret Currie BEM award for the Fairlie Young Citizen of the Year, and thanks to Mrs McGinn who made the presentation and switched on the lights, assisted by Liam and Rory Pottinger.
"Special thanks to the youngsters from Fairlie Primary who got us all ready for Christmas with great entertainment."
