A LARGS business owner has given a heartfelt thank you to customers and other local firms after announcing the closure of her shop.
Jennifer Docherty, who has been running the Jenny's Wardrobe business in the area for the past two years, announced on the shop's Facebook page that she was discontinuing the business after having to take a step back.
The shop sold second-hand items for children, with all items checked to make sure they are good quality before being put on sale.
Jenny's Wardrobe launched as an online business in April 2021 before opening up at 39 Nelson Street in February last year, and then moved to 41 Nelson Street - before expanding to Largs town centre in the summer.
In her message to customers, Jennifer said: "This comes with a heavy heart but I have had to close the shop.
"Due to mental health I am no longer able to continue trading as Jenny's Wardrobe.
"It has been a long hard 18 months personally and I just need some time to focus on myself.
"I would like to take this moment to thank all of my lovely customers for your support and for the friendships that have been built."
Jennifer first opened her premises in Nelson Street before moving to the neighbouring former Nancy Allan premises to run her business, which included a children's creche.
And this summer, the business moved into the Main Street premises previously occupied by Glen's and Euronics.
Speaking to the News, Jennifer said: "I spoke to my mum about how I was feeling - I am a young mum and having to run a business single-handedly.
"I have had the business for three years, and had a shop in Largs for two years come February.
"I have had some great support from people in the town including Elaine McPake from Ivory Mac and Nancy Allan, Graham Newbury from the Salvation Army shop, and Craig from the piercings shop.
"These people have been so helpful to me.
"It was the hardest decision to let go of the business but ultimately it was the right decision as I have to put myself and my family first."
On the Jenny's Wardrobe website Ivory Mac, who also made a move to Largs Main Street in the summer, after being neighbours with Jennifer in Nelson Street/Brisbane Road, left the following post: "So sorry to read this Jenny. Your health comes first though and that's what matters."
Customers also rallied round in support, including Jude Bryson-Meehan who said: "So sorry to hear this Jenny but hope you get the time you need, all the best."
And Ashley Gallagher said: "Really sorry to hear this but you have to focus on your health.
"It's most important to look after yourself, but it’s clear to see how lovely a person you are, and I wish you the very best."
