Stephen Fountain, or “Pastor Steve” as he is known to many in Largs as co-pastor of the Largs Church of the Nazarene, has release
The book, available on Amazon, is described as a unique blend of inspiration, humour, and wisdom that draws from the author's experience in urban farming and his expertise in philosophy and religion.
Tao Te Chicken is described as “a guide for living simply and a guide for simply living".
The collection of meditations combines traditional wisdom with references to popular literature, film, and music, resulting in an uplifting and sometimes sobering exploration of life, the universe, and surprisingly, the chicken.
Dr Fountain says: “I originally wrote this little book as a personal creative exercise during our early days of urban farming, with my wife, Tasha Alison.
"One day the play on words, Tao Te Chicken, occurred to me, and these reflections grew out of that pun.”
The book is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Lao Tzu as expressed in the Tao Te Ching.
Dr. Fountain says he has often been uplifted by its simple wisdom, which he finds quite compatible with the gospel.
“Tao Te Chicken is a reflection of that harmonious blend,” he says, “and I hope that readers are comforted, inspired, or at least entertained by it.”
Originally published in 2012 as an e-book, frequent requests for a paperback version led to the work’s revision and reformatting for 2023.
