A yellow warning has been issued for the CalMac ferry service between Cumbrae and Largs. due to strengthening winds.
Caledonian MacBrayne say the warning will remain in place throughout Tuesday, December 19.
Weather forecasts suggest that winds could reach more than 40mph into the early evening.
A Cal Mac spokesperson said: "The Largs-Cumbrae Slip service is liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice due to a forecast of strong westerly winds."
Another warning has been issued for possible disruption up until Christmas Eve.
CalMac added: "Due to adverse weather forecasts, there is a heightened possibility of disruption or cancellation to services in the coming week.
"Those wishing to travel should plan ahead accordingly."
