A Largs business owner has thanked customers for showing the 'true spirit of Christmas' by giving offers of help for an elderly woman in need.
Sandie Greenhorn, who owns 'Over the Moon' in the Main Street, put a call-out to customers to see if they could help the pensioner after she lost her original Christmas tree and decorations - in time for her grandchildren visiting.
Sandie told the News that the response from the public was overwhelming, and thanked everyone for responding.
Sandie explained: "One of my regular customers came in looking for little Christmas decorations to please her grandkids when they next visit.
"She mentioned that they were disappointed she never has a Christmas tree, and we got talking. She had lost her tree and lights years ago and never replaced them.
"I asked her to give me a few days to see if I could procure a tree, lights and decorations.
"I made an appeal on our Facebook page, and lots of offers came in.
"I took up Abigail Cox from Haylie Convenience Stores and collected a tree last Friday morning.
"She also provided a new set of lights and a box full of new baubles & decorations.
"I delivered them to my lady and put the tree up and lights on.
"We decided the leave the box of decorations for her to put on with her grandkids when they arrive tonight.
"She was absolutely blown away and so happy.
"It is a timely reminder to ask for help from our community and spreading a wee bit of festive cheer."
And in a further update, Sandie said: "Abi at Haylie Convenience Store has gone above and beyond and kindly donated a wonderful tree, a new set of lights & a big box of beautiful decorations. What a generous gesture - thank you, thank you, thank you!
"I’ve just delivered the tree, fluffed it and put the lights on all ready for my lovely customer's grandkids arriving to decorate together.
"We have one very happy local resident full of Christmas cheer and gratitude. She is ‘gubsmacked’!
"Thank you to all those who very kindly offered to help & for the donations of baubles and decorations.
"It’s a very good reminder to ask for help."
