A double weather alert is in place across Ayrshire on Wednesday for rain and snow.
Storm Gerrit is set to bring severe weather across the country, and the Met Office has issued a series of yellow weather warnings.
One warning for rain and snow covers the northern half of the region including parts of North Ayrshire, and runs from 6am until 9pm on Wednesday.
A second warning for rain only covers the southern part of the region including South Ayrshire and runs from 3am to 6pm.
There is high potential for disruption across Ayrshire, with transport services impacted and a deterioration of road conditions.
In relation to the first warning, the Met Office said: "A band of heavy rain and hill snow will move northeast across Scotland on Wednesday.
"At low elevations (roughly below 200 metres) this will fall mostly as rain, with 20-30 mm quite widely and perhaps as much as 50-70 mm in some locations.
"At higher elevations (roughly above 200 to 300 metres) snow is expected, with 10-15 cm likely to accumulate, particularly on southeast-facing hills, affecting some higher transport routes.
"Additionally very strong southeasterly winds will accompany the rain and snow, leading to blizzard conditions on the highest routes, and perhaps also ice build-up on some power lines and other structures over high ground."
A separate wind warning is in force for much of central Scotland, but does not include Ayrshire.
The Met Office alert for the second warning states: "Heavy rain will move northeastwards across southern Scotland on Wednesday morning, clearing away later in the afternoon.
"Across the warning area accumulations of 30 to 40 mm are expected with 60 to 80 mm falling over some of the higher ground.
"Snow is also likely for a short time across hills, but this will turn to rain by around mid-morning."
