A ROAD in Largs has reportedly been blocked after a tree was blown down in high winds.
Online reports suggest that the fallen tree has brought down an Openreach pole, blocking Routenburn Road near Knock Castle.
Residents in the area have advised motorists to avoid Routenburn Road while they wait for Openreach to come out and assess the situation.
Openreach have been contacted for comment.
High winds gusting to nearly 50mph are expected in the Largs area later today as Storm Gerrit batters the west coast, with weather warnings in place for rain and snow until 9pm on December 27.
A separate yellow warning for high winds is in place across large parts of the Highlands and the Argyll coast, and while this does not cover the Ayrshire area, the stormy weather has already resulted in travel disruption, with roads flooded and the Cumbrae ferry service suspended for a time on Wednesday morning.
