ScotRail have confirmed that the Largs to Glasgow service will not be operating until a full inspection of the line can take place, following the impact of Storm Gerrit, and rail bosses are satisfied that it is safe to re-open.
This afternoon, the line flooded at the Fairlie tunnelhead, alongside the A78 which was also flooded.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: "We're sorry to all of our customers who were caught up in the widespread disruption today caused by Storm Gerrit.
"The Largs-Glasgow Central service closed this evening, and will remain closed tomorrow until a full inspection can be carried out by Network Rail."
