A North Coast councillor says he plans to look into additional local authority support to help with the scale of flooding experienced on Cumbrae this week.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch praised the efforts of the island community after flooding hit homes and local businesses on the island on Wednesday, December 27.
Millport had more rain than anywhere else in Scotland during the day of Storm Gerrit - a total of 58 millimetres.
Cllr Murdoch said: "I will look into the level of available council resources on the island.
"Councillors can assist communities to obtain help in such situations. However, how do we assist the Isle of Cumbrae when the ferry is not operating and most of the local authority are on holiday?
"I am sure Todd Ferguson [fellow North Coast councillor and a Cumbrae resident] will support a request for an update on what should be available and what is actually available in situations like what happened on Wednesday.
"I will also ask for the rainwater drains to be inspected and cleared out."
There was praise for local council workers who turned out voluntarily to provide assistance on the day of the storm.
Local residents also provided sandbags, and businesses such as The Newton Bar provided food and drink for those involved in tackling the flooding.
