There was more road, rail and ferry disruption this morning as Storm Jocelyn struck the area, with dramatic footage showing high waves lashing the coastline.

ScotRail announced yesterday that there would be no early morning train services today while lines were being checked, with the Largs-Glasgow line being among the first to re-open this morning.

Ferries were also cancelled throughout the morning between Largs and Cumbrae Slip due to strong winds.

An update at  9.30am revealed the ferries are still off, with the first sailing set to take place at 10.15am, leaving Largs.

The A78 was closed overnight in both directions between Skelmorlie and Largs due to tidal flooding due to high water breaking over the sea wall.

McGills bus 578 from Greenock at 11.15pm and from Largs at midnight were cancelled due to flooding on the coastal route.

The A78 was reopened at 4.10am this morning after floodwater was cleared.

Earlier in the evening, a wall collapsed on the A78 from Skelmorlie heading to Largs on a bend on the road.

A tree also fell partially on the road, with the matter being reported to roads maintenance company Amey, who are responsible for the trunk road.

Meigle resident Archie Burleigh said: "An Amey grab lorry removed the collapsed wall at Ashcraig gatehouse and the road was cleared.

"The A78 gates were closed at Buchanan Street and Skelmorlie when the waves were starting to wash on to the road."

Footage by Ian Rutherford shows the storm from Largs seafront last night with waves lashing off the pier.
