The first fundraiser of 2024 organised to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the RNLI was a resounding success.
A total of 27 volunteers and crew helped the Largs Fundraising Branch welcome locals and visitors to an anniversary afternoon tea, which was well organised and highly supported.
There were 150 people who attended, and the whole event raised £1,350.
Linn Munton, branch chair, said “ it seemed everyone came at once and at first there was a queue for a table but that was soon sorted and the hall was buzzing.
"Then we realised more people were arriving than had been anticipated and catered for, so it was off into town for fresh supplies."
The committee would like to thank the Willowbank Hotel for donating the scones, which were much complimented in the hall and afterwards; the volunteers who made the tasty cakes; and the Co-op for donating tea and coffee.
There were many donations to the bottle stall, the book and craft stalls and the tombola, all of which were much appreciated.
Cathy Holgate, branch spokesperson, added: "Not only was it very profitable which makes all the planning and hard work on the day worthwhile, but it has been good to hear how everyone enjoyed it all and were glad to contribute to saving lives at sea”.
