Utility works are at long last taking place at the M&S Foodhall development in Largs town centre.
The move has been welcomed by Independent councillor Ian Murdoch who has been keeping a close eye on the development.
Cllr. Murdoch described it as a breakthrough, and said: "It's great to see the utility company on site at the new M&S. Largs is on the new store opening list with Linlithgow and it opened last Thursday."
Cllr Murdoch posted the photos on the Largs and Millport News Camera Club with SP Energy Networks excavating on the footway to provide the new supply for the new M&S.
The move was warmly welcomed by the public who see it as a major boost following the sad closure of several shops over recent months.
One onlooker added: "That's really promising.
It will be good to see work progressing on that site as it's sat empty for a while now ; plus so many businesses have closed recently resulting in an awful lot of empty units in Largs .
"We really need to see something positive happening."
The retail giant confirmed last month to the News that the foodhall is now set to open in early 2025 as part of its announcement that £30 million is being invested to open five new and expanded stores.
M&S's £30m investment aims to deliver more than five new store openings and expansions over the next 18 months, supporting over 6,500 jobs in communities across the country.
The overall investment includes a total of 50 jobs set to be created at the Main Street/Townhead Close development.
In their latest nationwide statement, M&S said they "will also open in Largs for the first time with a new foodhall due to open in early 2025."
