A CLASSIC comedy from the big and small screen is set to receive the Largs Players treatment later this year.
The local group has announced plans for a stage version of The Addams Family - originally a black-and-white TV hit in the 1960s before being revamped for the cinema three times in the 1990s and again as a feature-length animation in 2019.
The Largs Players are looking forward to resurrecting the characters and chaos of the favourite darkly comedic family.
Previous highly-acclaimed Largs Players productions include Sunshine on Leith, Caledonia USA, Gypsy, The Full Monty and more.
The Addams Family was launched on US television in 1964, based on Charles Addams's New Yorker cartoons, with its 64 episodes, and catchy theme tune, winning over audiences across the world.
The Largs stage production, like the TV series and the films that followed, will feature all the well-known family members - Gomez, Morticia, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Grandmama - as well as their towering butler servant Lurch and the disembodied hand known simply as Thing.
The show has gained new interest among modern day Netflix viewers thanks to the success of Wednesday - an American coming-of-age supernatural comedy horror television series based on the character of the same name, starring Jenna Ortega.
The Largs Players version will take to the stage at Barrfields Theatre from Wednesday, October 9 until Saturday, October 12, with a performance each night at 7.30pm as well as a matinee on the Saturday at 2pm.
Tickets can be bought online at BarrfieldsTheatre.com or by calling the venue on 0333 666 3366.
