A Cumbrae man has been handed points on his license after admitting to causing a crash at the island's ferry slip.
Sean Symes, 58, of Kames Street in Millport, pleaded guilty to hitting a stationary vehicle on September 18 last year at the ferry slip's turning circle.
He was charged with driving without due care and attention when he was sentenced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.
The fiscal depute told the court that around 9pm on the night in question, Symes crashed into a car that was parked stationary in the turning circle.
The man inside the car exited his vehicle to speak to Symes but he drove off towards the island's watersports centre.
The car driver went to drive back to his home on the island, but passed Symes sitting in his car in a layby.
He got out to speak to Symes after calling the police, who later took him to Millport Police Station. He was cautioned and charged at a later date.
Symes' defence solicitor told the court that it was raining at the time of the accident, and that his client thought it was a "stupid place to park".
He told the sheriff that the damage to the other car was minor, and that Symes had no previous driving offences.
He was handed a £420 fine by Sheriff Wark and given four penalty points on his license.
