A LARGS Thistle footballer who caused the death of a Wemyss Bay man in a horror crash on the A78 has been jailed for four years.
Craig Forbes was still more than twice the booze limit hours after the incident - in which he lost control of his car after overtaking another vehicle when it was unsafe.
He smashed his Volkswagen Golf into an oncoming Toyota Yaris being driven by 59-year-old David Horn at 11.20pm on October 15, 2022.
Mr Horn was so severely injured that he died in hospital at 1.26am the next day.
Forbes, 23, was jailed for four years at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday.
Mr Horn's family have said that they will 'never forgive' Forbes for what he did.
Forbes pleaded guilty on March 1, when judge Douglas Brown warned him to expect a "substantial" prison sentence.
