A body has been found in the search for a missing woman who had links to Ayrshire.

Angela Keenan was reported missing last week, having last been seen in the Laxton Drive area of Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire at around 7am on Tuesday, April 2.  

Police said Angela was known to have links to Ayrshire, and to a number of other areas of Scotland, and urged the public to be on the lookout for her car.

Police Scotland now say Angela's body was discovered in a vehicle in the east end of Glasgow at the weekend.

A spokesperson said: "Around 3.20pm on Sunday, April 7, the body of a woman was found within a car in the Parkhead area of Glasgow.

"She has been formally identified as Angela Keenan, who was missing from Lenzie.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
