A LARGS doctor has received a top prize from the professional body for GPs in the UK.
Dr Fiona MacKenzie was awarded the Stuart Murray Prize from the Royal College of General Practitioners for the trainee who has scored the highest in their clinical skills assessment, sparking delight at the practice.
It is a double delight for Dr MacKenzie, who went through the exam process while seven months pregnant, and is currently on maternity leave.
A practice spokesperson said: "Largs Medical Group are absolutely delighted to announce that Dr Fiona MacKenzie was awarded the Stuart Murray Prize from the Royal College of General Practitioners.
"The prize is awarded to the West of Scotland trainee who has scored the highest in their clinical skills assessment in the preceding 12 months.
"The assessment is an incredibly difficult exam to pass and all at Largs Medical Group are overjoyed to learn of Dr MacKenzie's success.
"What makes this even more amazing is that Dr MacKenzie managed to achieve this when she was seven months pregnant!
