Drivers on the A737 face another three weeks of 24 hour traffic lights on the road, while essential bridge repairs continue.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out the repairs at Risk Brae, south of Howwood, until Friday, May 31.

Diversions will be in place on the road, which links Ayrshire with Glasgow, from 9pm to 6am.

The Risk Brae work was previously postponed in 2022.

Amey says the work will benefit around 21,500 vehicles using this route each day by maintaining the safety of the structure and ensuring that the route remains serviceable, as well as reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out using two-way 24-hour temporary traffic lights, while Belltrees Road, at the work location, will be open for local access only.

Amey says short duration full closures of the whole of the A737 between Beith Road and the Roadhead roundabout will be needed at the start and end of the works to install and remove the traffic management. Local diversions will be in place.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Amey also says that all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
